P-CCS Board of Education Approves 2018-19 Limited School of Choice
- School NameCommunications Office
The Plymouth-Canton Community Schools Board of Education passed a limited School of Choice resolution Tuesday, February 13, opening up a minimum of one seat for Kindergarten through 8th grade with a maximum of 250 seats for the 2018-19 school year. For the second consecutive year the program will be a 105 and a 105c, which means that families from Wayne County and all surrounding counties (Washtenaw, Macomb, Oakland, Monroe) are welcome to apply.
As part of the resolution, and similar to last year, the District will first open a one-time intra-district (for resident P-CCS students) transfer application process to begin March 6. Similar to School of Choice placements, intra-district transfers will only be available for open seats; however, they will be considered before School of Choice placements are made.
The online School of Choice application window will be open from Wednesday, March 14 to Friday, April 13 and can be found at www.pccsk12.com beginning on March 14 at midnight. The actual number of School of Choice students enrolled into P-CCS from outside of the District will depend on availability.
Applicants that are siblings of current P-CCS School of Choice students will be given sibling preference. According to state law, sibling applicants who are entering Kindergarten through 8th grade for the 2018-19 school year are eligible to apply, and sibling applicants are the first students to be considered when placement offers are made.
Like previous School of Choice programs, this addition will not displace any current resident P-CCS students.
More details and important dates regarding the application process for both the intra-district process and the limited School of Choice program for non-resident families will be available in the near future at the official Plymouth-Canton Schools website found at www.pccsk12.com, as well as all of the District’s social media outlets.
