Gallimore TornadoBots Place 10th at Girls Solve It Competition
- School NameAll District
A Gallimore Elementary School team, the TornadoBots, placed in the top 10 in the first Girls Solve IT competition. The members are 5th graders Mona Pandit, Saanvi Pullala, Sofia Qureshi, Somer Qureshi, and Anika Sahas-Shah (coached by Gallimore 5th grade teacher Cara Wegrzyn). It was an awesome experience.
Girls Solve IT teams are given three Michigan-inspired technology quests to complete that qualify them for a state-wide competition and first place award. Two of the quests involve Wonder Workshop “Dash” robot programming and one of the quests is an unplugged activity requiring the teams to use creative thinking to imagine how technology can solve a real world problem. Thirty-eight teams of girls participated, with 28 teams qualifying for the state-wide competition.
