Plymouth-Canton Optimist Club sponsors Math Jeopardy at Dodson
- School NameAll District
On June 8, 2017, Plymouth-Canton Optimists Club volunteers: Noel & Shelley Hansen, Julie Kulp, Terri Keski-Hynnula, Cheryl Klobuchar and Charlie Roebuck assisted lead teacher Gail Maloney in a Math Jeopardy competition at Dodson Elementary in Canton. Three 5th grade teams (one team from each class) answered the questions while all 90 of their classmates worked together to provide the full written problems to them. All three teams were very competitive and the final score was very close, however, team Maloney emerged as the winner. Charlie Roebuck said afterwards: “Dodson School's 5th grade math seemed more advanced than my 5th grade teachings. Math Jeopardy included some geometry problems and some simple algebra 'story problems'. In my school days, these concepts were taught in later grades".
Congratulations to all who competed and thanks to Dodson Elementary and Gail Maloney for organizing the event.
