Registration Information:

Specific course schedule will be based upon test scores and class availability.

We will maintain a waiting list if there are cancellations,
but applicants must test to remain on the waiting list.

  • Only students who are registered in advance may test.
  • During periods of open registration, prospective students may come to the office at Starkweather to fill out registration forms and information. 
  • A $25 REFUNDABLE fee is required to reserve your place in the class.
    • Deposits must be cash (exact amount) or certified check.  No personal checks will be accepted.

 

2019-2020 English as a Second Language Program

Testing takes place on dates indicated only.*

 

Classes are two times a week for 2-3 hours and are offered during the day or evening. 

A placement test will be given to determine class level.

ESL Registration is now open for November 4th testing.  Please click on the link below to register online.  Paper registration is available in person at Starkweather, if needed.  ALL REGISTRATION FOR THE NOVEMBER 4TH TESTING DATE MUST BE COMPLETED BY NOVEMBER 1ST!  You will not be allowed to register the day of testing.

Please note:  If completing registration online, your deposit will be due the first day of class.  Registration fee is $25 (cash, exact amount or check payable to PCCS).

Someone from the ESL department will notify you of your testing time .

Frequently asked questions

What is the placement test?
The placement test is an online or paper/pencil test.  It will test your listening and reading skills.

Why do I have to take the placement test?
The placement test allows us to determine your best level to further support your learning. (ESL Testing takes approximately 2 hours to complete)

How do I select my class?
After you take the placement test, your level will be provided and at that time, you may select your class.

What days will I have class?
You will have class 2 days a week with additional days for tutor support.

How much will the program cost?
You will pay $25 (cash, exact amount or check payable to PCCS) deposit for registration only.  If you complete the program, your $25 can be refunded to you upon request.

What if I am a current student?
If you are a current student, you will be required to complete the registration form and pay the $25 deposit.

If I am a current student, do I have to take the placement test?
If you took the post test in May we can use that score.

What materials will I receive?
All students will receive any textbook and course related materials.

How many hours am I required to attend class?
You are required to complete 40 hours per semester and attendance is mandatory and will be taken daily.
