P-CCS Board of Education Approves Increased Investment in Athletics and Activities for 2026-2027 School Year

P-CCS Board of Education Approves Increased Investment in Athletics and Activities for 2026-2027 School Year

$500,000 investment will reduce participation fees, expand opportunities, and strengthen student programs.

P-CCS is pleased to announce that the Board of Education has approved the 2026-2027 Athletics and Activities budget, including a $500,000 investment to support and enhance extracurricular opportunities for students across the district.

This investment will help reduce financial barriers, increase program support, and expand opportunities for students to participate in athletics, clubs, and activities.

High School Athletics and Activities

For high school students, the pay-to-participate fee will be reduced from $385 to $175 per student beginning in the 2026-2027 school year. Additional funding will support athletic supplies, uniforms, equipment, transportation, clubs, performance groups, competitions, registrations, and teacher leader training opportunities.

Specialized program funding will include:

  • Increased funding for Science Olympiad Teams at P-CEP
  • Purchase of Presto Assistant, supporting the high school band program
  • Increased funding for the Gourmet Club

Additionally, the following MHSAA sports will transition from self-funded to district-funded programs:

  • Freshman Baseball
  • Competitive Cheer
  • Boys and Girls Bowling
  • Boys and Girls Lacrosse

This is part of a broader three-year vision to steadily improve funding for our athletic and activity programs.

Middle School Athletics

Middle school athletics in 7th and 8th grades will also see a reduction in participation fees, with the pay-to-participate fee decreasing from $200 to $125 for one sport and an additional $50 for unlimited remaining sports.

This investment reflects P-CCS' ongoing commitment to providing students with meaningful opportunities to explore their interests, develop skills, and build connections beyond the classroom.
