P-CCS High School Virtual Academy Launches New Subject.com Learning Platform for 2026-27 School Year

CANTON, MI — Plymouth-Canton Community Schools (P-CCS) is proud to announce the launch of a more flexible, personalized, and student-centered online learning experience for its High School Virtual Academy during the 2026-27 school year through a new partnership with the Subject.com learning platform.

The transition marks a significant evolution of the district's virtual learning program, replacing the traditional daily live Zoom schedule with a fully asynchronous instructional model that allows students to complete coursework on a schedule that best fits their individual needs.

"Our goal has always been to provide students with a high-quality virtual learning experience that meets them where they are, and we are excited to take the next step in that work with the transition to Subject.com," said Amanda Pelukas, P-CCS High School Virtual Academy Coordinator. "This new platform gives students greater flexibility and ownership of their learning while ensuring they continue to receive the individualized support, teacher connections, and accountability they need to be successful."

The redesigned Virtual Academy introduces a number of new features designed to make online learning more engaging, accessible, and responsive to each student's learning style, including:

• Fully asynchronous coursework that allows students to learn anytime, anywhere.
• Personalized instruction that enables students to spend additional time on challenging concepts or move more quickly through material they have already mastered.
• Built-in accessibility tools, including text-to-speech, translation support, and interactive study resources.
• Real-time progress monitoring and immediate feedback on assignments.
• 24/7 on-demand tutoring and learning support through the Subject.com platform.

Although instruction is delivered asynchronously, students will receive consistent guidance and support from certified Subject.com teachers. Each course is led by a teacher who monitors student progress, provides individualized feedback, answers questions, and schedules one-on-one meetings as needed. Students also participate in weekly mentor check-ins and follow pacing guides to help ensure they remain on track for successful course completion.

One of Subject.com's most innovative features is its ability to personalize the learning experience around each student's interests. Whether a student enjoys sports, music, the arts, technology, gaming, or other hobbies, the platform can incorporate those interests into lesson examples, scenarios, and learning interfaces. By connecting academic content to subjects students are passionate about, the platform creates a more engaging and meaningful learning experience while maintaining full alignment with Michigan academic standards.

Beyond academic achievement, the redesigned Virtual Academy also helps students develop essential college- and career-ready skills, including time management, self-direction, digital literacy, personal responsibility, and independent learning.
