P-CEP Celebrates Two More 2026 National Merit Scholarship Winners

 

 Plymouth-Canton Community Schools (P-CCS) is proud to announce that two additional members of the Plymouth-Canton Educational Park (P-CEP) Class of 2026, Misha Srinivasan and Angelina Gampala, have earned one of the nation’s highest academic honors after being named recipients of 2026 National Merit Scholarships.

Misha and Angelina join five other graduating seniors from P-CEP who have been recognized as 2026 National Merit Scholarship recipients, representing the highest total number of single-year winners in recent memory for the district

Both students plan to pursue careers in medicine and are among just 31 students in Michigan selected to receive awards in the third round of the 2026 National Merit Scholarship announcements. Their scholarships are funded directly by colleges and universities, which select recipients from among National Merit finalists who have chosen to attend their institutions. While award amounts are not typically disclosed, scholarships can range from partial tuition assistance to full tuition, room, and board packages.

“I am thrilled to celebrate the accomplishments of Misha and Angelina and congratulate them on this outstanding achievement,” said Dr. Monica L. Merritt, Superintendent of Plymouth-Canton Community Schools. “I am equally proud of our district’s high number of National Merit Scholarship recipients this year. These honors reflect not only the dedication and talent of our students, but also the exceptional educational opportunities available throughout P-CCS that help prepare students for success in an ever-changing world.”

Both students qualified for the competition based on their performance on the 2024 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT). Finalists are selected through a comprehensive evaluation process that considers academic achievement, SAT or ACT scores, personal essays, extracurricular involvement, leadership roles, honors and awards, and recommendations from high school officials.

The recognition earned by Misha and Angelina continues P-CEP’s strong tradition of National Merit Scholarship success, with the district now celebrating 13 National Merit Scholarship recipients over the past two academic years. A final round of 2026 scholarship recipients is scheduled to be announced in July.
