School Meals are Free for 2025-2026 School Year
P-CCS is happy to report that the recently approved 2025-26 State of Michigan budget includes continued funding for the Michigan School Meals Program through the current school year, which provides free meals for all students. The passage of this budget reflects a strong commitment to student wellness, equity, and academic success, and we are thankful to our state leaders for prioritizing this essential support.
Effective immediately, all students will have access to one breakfast and one lunch daily at no charge to families. Extra servings, snacks, and a la carte items are still available for purchase using the student meals account on the MiStar Cafeteria page. Any charges for meals purchased on October 1 have already been credited back to student meal accounts.
The District strongly encourages all families to complete the Education and Nutrition Benefits Form, even if you believe you may not qualify. While meals are free for all students this year, completing the form is still very important. It helps ensure families receive every benefit for which they may be eligible, supports the smooth continuation of funding for school meals in future years, and provides additional resources (such as Title dollars) that directly support students and schools across the district. Please contact your student’s school if you prefer a paper form.
