Students Step Into the Future as Orsa Hub Opens at P-CCS

A 25-year, $5 million partnership between Plymouth-Canton Community Schools and orsa credit union brings a first-of-its-kind learning hub to life

CANTON, MI – Students, educators, community leaders, and local officials gathered Wednesday evening at Canton High School to mark the opening of the Orsa Hub, a first-of-its-kind learning space made possible through a 25-year, $5 million partnership between Plymouth-Canton Community Schools (P-CCS) and orsa credit union.

Built as part of P-CCS’ 2020 Bond Program, the Orsa Hub is designed to be more than a building. It is a dynamic ecosystem for student-led exploration — a place where young people engage with robotics, artificial intelligence, virtual reality, augmented reality, entrepreneurship, financial literacy, and mental health programming. In addition, the facility houses a dedicated robotics practice field. Flexible, collaborative spaces encourage students across the K–12 journey to pursue ideas, test solutions, and build confidence alongside educators, mentors, and local industry partners.

“Last night’s wonderful event was so much more than a celebration of the beautiful new

Orsa Hub. It was an opportunity for us to share our district’s mission to boldly offer

students an education that extends far beyond a traditional classroom,” P-CCS

Superintendent Dr. Monica L. Merritt said. “Through our partnership with orsa, we will

remain on the cutting edge of experience-based learning and continue to prepare

students for the careers of tomorrow.”

The Orsa Hub reflects a shared commitment from both organizations to invest in the next generation of Michiganders. Programs housed within the hub will also support girls in STEM through scholarships and robotics, expand mental health resources, and connect students to local industry pathways. The hub is designed to grow with the district, welcoming students, educators, and community members as a living, evolving resource.

“This partnership is a living expression of what we believe about people and possibility,” said Tansley Stearns, president & ceo of orsa. “For 75 years, we’ve been rooted in this community, walking alongside Michiganders as they build their futures. The Orsa Hub ensures students and educators have the tools, trust, and support to lead boldly, today and for decades to come. This is orsa investing in the future of financial wellness, co-creating with young adults.”

Programming in the Orsa Hub launched with a soft opening through the end of the 2025–26 school year, with full district-wide implementation planned for fall 2026. The phased rollout will expand access across schools, activate cross-district collaboration, and invite community engagement through showcases and events.

The orsa Hub will also become home to a custom mural by Tony Roko, a Plymouth-Canton-based artist whose work is rooted in community storytelling. Roko's mural is slated for completion this summer, adding another layer of local identity and creative expression to the space.
