P-CCS Celebrates More Than 20 National Merit Scholarship Finalists for Second Straight Year

CANTON, MI — Plymouth-Canton Community Schools (P-CCS) is proud to announce that 22 seniors from Plymouth-Canton Educational Park (P-CEP) have been named Finalists in the 71st annual National Merit Scholarship Program.

The students have advanced to the final stage of the nationwide competition for scholarships valued at nearly $26 million, which will be awarded later this spring and summer.

This marks the second consecutive year that P-CEP has had more than 20 students named National Merit Finalists. Last year, six P-CCS graduates went on to earn scholarships through the program, setting a district record.

Students qualified for the 2026 National Merit Scholarship Program by taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT®). Their scores placed them among the top one percent of high school seniors nationwide. Finalists are then evaluated based on their academic record, including the rigor of courses taken and grades earned, as well as their leadership and contributions to school and community activities. Each student also submits an essay and receives a
